ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 3
Assignment 1: POETIC JOURNEY STRUCTURE
The project focuses on creating spatial experiences, emphasizing poetic architecture that conveys beauty and meaningful experiences through expressive spatial journeys. Students work in groups to explore and translate the essence of a typical Malaysian Malay Kampung into a narrative journey, which is then transformed into two structures - concentric and linear. The project involves various tasks including precedent studies, design process exploration, creation of physical models, and production of a poetic video. The emphasis is on understanding spatial typologies, contextual conditions, and translating narratives into architecture, supported by readings and site explorations.
REFLECTION
For the "Poetic Journey Structure" assignment, "Discipline Specific Knowledge" was crucial, as we translated the Malay Kampung essence into a spatial journey, applying theories in creating concentric and linear structures. Engaging with "Thinking and Problem Solving skills," we critically and creatively addressed the task, ensuring our design process reflected problem-solving abilities. "Communication Skills" were essential to convey our narrative through models and a video, necessitating clear, effective presentation skills. These experiences enhanced our capabilities in theory application, critical thinking, information synthesis, and articulate communication.
