ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 2

 Assignment 1: DIAGRAMMING ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES

In the first assignment, our focus is on understanding the significance of diagrams and architectural principles. We have been assigned the Hideout Horizon Bamboo house, designed by WNA Studio, as our case study. Working in a group of six, our task is to delve into their work and explore how the ideas behind the project are translated into visually accessible architectural diagrams.

REFLECTION

One of the key TGCs that stood out for our first assignment was "Discipline Specific Knowledge." Throughout the process, we were able to put architectural theories into practice by studying the Hideout Horizon Bamboo house and analyzing how the ideas were translated into architectural diagrams. This hands-on experience allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of the ethical issues and professional practices within the field of study.

Another important TGC that influenced our approach was "Thinking and Problem Solving skills." We were challenged to think critically and creatively while studying the built project. We had to define and analyze problems in order to develop effective solutions and visually represent them through architectural diagrams. This process encouraged us to explore innovative design approaches and consider various perspectives.

Additionally, the TGC "Communication Skills" played a significant role in our assignment. Effectively communicating our findings and ideas in various settings and modes was essential. We had to ensure that our architectural diagrams were clear and visually engaging, enabling others to understand the transformation of ideas from the project. This required us to articulate our thoughts accurately and present our work coherently.

TGCs that I have acquired are

  • 1.1 Able to put theories into practice.

  • 3.1 Think critically and creatively.

  • 2.2 Locate, extract, synthesize, and utilize information effectively.
